Quite simply, the mission of Renew is to live up to our name.
- We believe that we’ve been renewed by God (2 Corinthians 5:17)
- We’re constantly in the process of being renewed (Romans 12:1-2).
- And we’re attempting to join with God in the renewal of all things (Isaiah 43:19).
Renewal is saturated with hope. It’s a second chance. It’s new birth – a rebirth. This is the spirit of Renew – we desire for others to experience Jesus just as we have experienced Jesus.
We’ve been renewed by God through his son Jesus.
We are in the process if being renewed day by day.
And we join with God for the renewal of all things - as his ambassadors and representatives in our context.
As we attempt to live up to our name, we exist very simply to help people pay attention to God and respond appropriately.
We’re convinced that church is not a place we go to, but a place we go from. We seek to become a group of people who live as missionaries cleverly disguised as teachers, plumbers, attorneys, students and stay at home moms. We believe that ministry is meeting people where they are and journeying with them to where God wants them to be. It’s with that same posture we seek to be the people of God in the local community called Renew.
Romans 12:1-2 says: “Here’s what I want you to do – God helping you. Take your ordinary, everyday lives – your eating, sleeping, going to work and walking around lives, and place it before God as an offering. Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him” (The Message).
It’s on this basis that our church longs to be known more for our sending capacity than our seating capacity. We believe that our church – and every church for that matter – is at its best when it is calling one another to radical abandonment to Jesus, thus purposefully realigning our lives around his life and message. All of this is done in humility, believing that we’re all in need of the saving work and grace of Jesus. It’s why we only have one rule at our church: no perfect people allowed.
