We wholeheartedly believe in the priesthood of all believers – every follower of Jesus is a minister. There are many people in leadership at Renew. Some are in official capacities, but most lead in unofficial ways, big and small.
Renew is an elder-led church. Elders provide direction, spiritual oversight and cultivation of our unique ethos attempting to ensure that we are following Christ, living out the values of the kingdom and led by the Spirit.
We have a leadership community, consisting of several leaders who serve in various capacities (house church shepherds, worship leaders, key volunteers, etc.).
We also have staff that serves not by doing the work for the church, but in working to equip the church to participate in God’s plan together.
STAFF
Doug Moister, Pastor
Doug Moister serves as the lead pastor at the Renew Community. He leads the Elder team, the House Church Shepherds, casts vision, shepherds people, and cultivates a culture of kingdom risks. Doug and his wife Mear accepted the call to come on staff with Renew in 2011. Today, besides his pastoral and preaching duties with Renew, Doug is a life long learner, a church history nerd, a coach in the community, and an enthusiastic fly fisherman. Doug and Mear enjoy spending time with their kids and thanking God for all He has done and continues to do in the community.
Ben Pitzen, Pastor
Ben serves as pastor of the Renew Community in the roles of shepherding, teaching, and fostering creative expressions of the gospel. He joyfully accepted the invitation to join the staff of Renew in the fall of 2017 after apprenticing for two years. Ben has journeyed from a dairy farm in Iowa, to inner city Chicago, to the suburbs of Philadelphia with some other adventures along the way. He and his wife Jenny live in Lansdale along with their three boys, Daniel, Tristan and Oliver. Hanging with his family, playing basketball, watching baseball, being outdoors, and playing different games are a few of his favorite things.
